MSTR® Scar Tissue Release

Approved MSTR TM jpg_edited.avif

Gentle scar therapy for surgical, injury and trauma scars

Scars tell a story. Whether your scar came from surgery, an injury, childbirth or a life-changing event, it may still be affecting your body long after the wound has healed.

Many people are surprised to learn that scars can contribute to feelings of tightness, restriction, numbness, sensitivity and discomfort years – sometimes decades – later.

MSTR® (McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release®) is a gentle, non-invasive treatment designed to help reduce the effects of scar tissue and improve comfort, mobility and function.

At Hills Massage, MSTR® treatments are provided by Approved MSTR® Practitioner Michelle Rimmer.

Initial Consultation: 60 minutes – $120

Private health rebates available.

Could Your Scar Still Be Affecting You?

You may have a scar that has healed beautifully on the surface, but still notice:

✓ Tightness or pulling sensations

✓ Numbness or altered sensation

✓ Sensitivity to touch or clothing

✓ Restricted movement

✓ Discomfort around the scar

✓ A feeling that the area just doesn't feel quite right

✓ Changes in the way you move or hold yourself

✓ Ongoing symptoms that developed after surgery or injury

Every scar is unique, and the impact of scar tissue can vary greatly from person to person.

What Is MSTR®?

MSTR® stands for McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release®, a specialised technique developed specifically for the treatment of scar tissue.

Unlike deep tissue massage or forceful scar work, MSTR® uses gentle fingertip movements over and around the scar.

There are no oils, machines or aggressive techniques involved.

Many clients are surprised by how comfortable and relaxing treatment feels.

The goal is to help improve the mobility and function of scar tissue and the surrounding tissues, allowing the body to move more freely and comfortably.

Common Scars We Treat

MSTR® may be suitable for many types of healed scars, including:

Surgical Scars

  • Caesarean section scars

When Can Scar Treatment Begin?

Scars must be fully healed before treatment can begin.

As a general guide, we recommend waiting at least 9 weeks after surgery before booking an MSTR® consultation.

If you're unsure whether your scar is ready for treatment, please contact us and we'll be happy to help.

Why Do Some Scars Need More Than One Treatment?

Some clients notice significant changes after a single session, while others benefit from a series of treatments.

Factors that can influence treatment include:

  • The age of the scar

  • Scar size and depth

  • Number of scars present

  • Surgical history

  • Individual healing patterns

Our goal is always to provide honest recommendations based on your specific situation.
